IF YOU TRAVEL FROM THE UNITED STATES OR CANADA TO MEXICO the CBP will want to verify your pet is in basic good health:
-
That it does not have signs of infectious and contagious diseases. That it does not have fresh or healing wounds.
-
That it is free of ectoparasites.
The requirements that are listed for visitors from other countries are also strongly recommended...
-
A copy of shot records, especially showing a Rabies Vaccine.
-
That during the inspection before your trip, the animal was found clinically healthy.
-
Have a "Good Health Certificate" with a maximum validity of 15 days after being issued by an official veterinarian
-
If ticks are detected, the personnel will take a sample for its diagnosis in the official laboratory. Also verify that all the specimens found on your pet are removed.
-
The Office of Agriculture and Livestock Health Inspection (OISA) will keep your pet until the laboratory result is obtained in order to rule out the presence of exotic specimens for Mexico or under Campaign.
